Hotel Laurentia ***

Blum Andrea review

We were there for 4 nights. Everything was perfect, the employees, the rooms etc. Specially we offer the surroundings! Pubs, pizzerias, all tipe of nice small places after a long walking turist day. Great in the night. And the market is just in front of you:) Great in the morning! So just enjoy your stay at Hotel Laurentia! The breakfast is "vegetarian" I would enjoy some kind of meet too!:(

An excellent hotel for us to stay during our personal trip to Rome. Not very easy to locate for the first time. But once you find and try it, you will surely come back next time.

Staunton Katharine review
We had a great stay here. It was a bit tricky finding the hotel from Stazione Termini as the street name wasn't listed on our map! The best way to get there is: Stand outside the front of the station, facing it. Walk down the left-hand side of the station, downhill, for about 10-15 minutes. You pass the big Post Office on your left. At the bottom of the hill, turn left and pass through the old city wall into Piazza(le) Tiburtina. There should be signs to the hotel from here, but basically it's right after the piazza and right again. I'd stay here again & would recommend it to friends & family.

The hotel was a good value for the price. The only problem area was the neighborhood which was filled with graffiti and unclean. Maybe my expectations were too great.

We had a very pleasant stay in Hotel Laurentia. We enjoyed it very much. The hotel has an excellent price/quality rating.

Aber wer will in Rom schon fernsehen?

This hotel really is as good as everybody says it is! It is spacious, friendly, welcoming, and quiet. It seems to be the only hotel in Sam Lorenzo, an area which is full of young Italians and less visited by tourists. But it's not too far from the centre, provided you are prepared to walk half a mile (there is an underpass under the railway) to the underground, or take a bus. Don't be too put off by reports of all the rough sleepers you have to walk past: there are some, but they will not be a problem to you, and they don't come very close to the hotel itself. You can easily eat out locally: mostly cheap pizzerias (we recommend "Formule 1") but you can find higher quality restaurants as well if you look (we recommend the Sardinian place on via Tiburtina). Finally, the hotel has its own website with special offers on it, but don't worry, venere.com charges you just the same good competitive rates!

An excellent hotel, very good value and first class staff of a high standard. We enjoyed our stay and would not hestitate to return or to recommend the same to others.
Morison Colin review
This Hotel was excellent value for money and we will definitely go back. Armandi's restaurant is nearby and was recommended by the reception, more excellent value for money (also a nearby wine bar). Although the Hotel ia away from the centre the no 71 bus or the trams (just a little further away) take you anywhere you want to go very reasonably. The room we had was great and the Breakfast room is lovely (also the breakfasts) and the internet access very useful.

The hotel was very clean. The receptionists were very friendly and the prices were cheap. The whole package was great. PS: Hope you enjoy the match between Lazio and Roma.

The staff was very accomodating. When my husband and I arrived early, they arranged a room for us. The staff provided a crib for our grandson, and each person we met was very gracious, and knowledgeable about walking from the hotel to various historical areas of the city.
THACKER MARK review
Hotel Laurentia is a very nice and welcolming place to stay. All the staff are more than helpful and the reception/lounge areas are very tastefully furnished. The breakfast is plentiful and includes cereal, croissants, rolls, yogurt and canned/dried fruit. Tea, Coffee and Juice are provided and there is a small bar area for guests to enjoy a drink or two. There is no kitchen so no hot food is available. The rooms are spacious and well appointed for a hotel of this calibre. There is a small market adjacent to the hotel most days(not Sunday) and a few bars and restaurants nearby. The area around the hotel is a bit rundown in places but there were no problems that we could see or sense. The hotel is a 20-30 minute walk to the colluseum but the walk back is a killer so take a bus or taxi back!!!! For your info, bus tickets are €1 each and must be bought in advance from Tabacos shops and you validate them once one the bus. The ticket is then valid for 75 minutes so if you wanted you could take a couple of buses for €1(great value). If you take a taxi, only use the ones with "Taxi" on the top and writing on the side as there are a lot of dodgy ones around. Also be aware that the Romans are crazy drivers and tend not to give way to anything!!! Overall I would say that we had a fabulous time in Rome and we will definately be going back.

It´s a really nice hotel with a good atmosphere. The room we had, was not so big, but it was o.k. We liked especaillay the enviroment of the hotel, the qarter "San Lorenzo". There are nearly no tourists and you can eat vey good ad it´s really not expensivce (Try "Superpizza", pizza al taglio, beside the hotel). From the station you have to walk ca. 15 Minutes to the hotel, there are some signs.

Near to the main station (10 min walk, 3 stops by bus), very clean and cheap. In the near of the universitiy, nice bars and a very good Pizzeria in the house next to the hotel.

MARTIN Emmanuel review
With my friend, we really enjoyed to stay in that Hotel. Employees very professionnal, good buffet breakfast (included) and very clean room. The situation of this hotel is not far from the center (bus 492 - 71) and the area is agreable to go out at night, bars, wine bars good restaurant nearby. We highly recommande it.
Bux Hans Peter review

I put excellent for most of the above questions for a reason! This hotel was a god send...the price I got through venere was absolutely amazing, and I could not ask for more at the hotel! Friendly staff, lovely decor, clean rooms, perfect! For those thinking of staying here, I do highly recommend it!... There is a computer with internet access available for unlimited free use in the hotel between 7am - 10pm. Access to the centre of Rome from the hotel area: there is a shop round the corner...the 71 bus stops outside (bus stops have big yellow boards, silvestre is the direction you want!)... and terminates in the heart of Rome (10 mins ride). Termini station is within walking distance of the hotel (10 mins walk), where you can get the metro (both lines cross at termini) or many buses go from termini. You may think, looking at my date of travel (February) we got cold weather...but out of 4 days we were there, 2 were very hot! the 3rd was dull and a bit rainy, the 4th was very rainy, but you've got to take the rough with the smooth!!! ROME: Highly recommended HOTEL: Highly recommended WE'LL BE BACK! SEE YOU SOON ROME AND HOTEL LAURENTIA!

PRICE CHRISTINE review
The hotel was very good and the staff could not have been more helpful. I would happily go back there but there is one drawback - the road which runs parallel to the train station (via Marsella I think) is quite scary at night and you have to walk past people sleeping rough by the post office. Although we were not approached next time we will take a taxi. There is a number 71 bus which stops quite near the Hotel and takes you right in to the centre of town. The metro is about a 15 minute walk away. Although getting from the station to the Hotel is not very nice, the area around the Hotel was alright and we felt safe going out for a mealin the via Turbina.

Laurentia was a very nice hotel, the rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff are welcoming. The breakfast was amazing, such a big selection. The location was nice but the walk from the station had a lot of homeless people and beggars, but it still felt quite safe.
Savarese Massimo review accommodation rome

As a new comer to Rome, it is a bit difficult to find where the hotel is though actually the hotel is not so far away from rome terminal. the hotel is located in a university community on the right hand side of rome terminal. When you arrive the rome terminal, you should go right and turn to right hand side again, and go straight until you see a public parking area and shops surrounding it on you left hand side, then , turn left. That makes you much more easier to find this nice hotel and just takes you 15-20 mins. The quality of room is excellent relatively to the price and staff is welcoming. Next time to rome, this hotel still is my choice.

This is one of the best hotel we ever used in Rome. It is excellent in price, service, free internet, breakfasts.... It could be a four star hotel, just the location is a bit out of the way from Termini. You have to walk through some very dumppy area to get to it. Howerer, the hotel signs are everywhere, easy to find. A great Pizzaria just next door to it. Bus 71 is the way to travel. 15 minutes walt to metro or Termini. We love the staff there. They are very helpful.

Hammond Andrew review
I requested a wheelchair accessible room and this was provided, although as the room was on the 2nd floor there would have been a problem in the event of a fire or if the lift developed a fault. The staff were very helpful and the service was good. The surrounding area was grotty, but I didn't experience any kind of trouble. Noise levels at night were a little high, so it might be worth bringing earplugs. Overall, I think this is a good value hotel.
De Vriendt Wouter review rome hotel reservation
Concluding our trip throughout Southern Italy, starting in Rome, Hotel Laurentia is one of the hotels we would recommend to other travellers. A "special offer" (50€ and 60€ for a room with terrace, per night per room) made it possible for us, budget travellers, to stay in Hotel Laurentia. Accomodation in Italy is generally expensive, but the price of this hotel was fairly reasonable. Bare in mind that the so-called more coloured pensions (rather than 'hotels') are more expensive than Hotel Laurentia..When we compare price/quality of Hotel Laurentia with other hotels we stayed in during our trip, Hotel Laurentia ranks on top of the list. Friendly, English speaking staff, nice atmosphere, authentic neighbourhood, clean rooms, included buffet breakfast,... Only one downside: rather far away from the historic centre and metro connection on a 15 minute walking distance (Termini station is NOT the closest metro stop, instead go to Vittorio Emmanuel). But on the other hand, if you want to stay in the historic centre, you sure have to pay for it.

Located near the train station where the metro lines cross means you can get anywhere in minutes, without having to pay the price of staying near a major tourist attraction. In contrast to the other comments, we found no 'cultures' in the bathroom at all, and the air conditioning was a reasonably old system but worked just fine. When we first walked to the hotel from the station we walked down a dirty and dodgy area and were worried, but if you use the street parallel to it there are no problems at all. the hotel is close enough to the station that we never bothered to look for a bus. as for the map and the location, use www.maporama.com to find the hotel, print out the map and bring it with you and you will have no difficulty at all. On to the hotel itself, the rooms are not posh, but they were perfectly fine - clean, double room with (clean) bathroom, television, fridge, safe, large windows outside of which a restaraunt sets up in the evenings, but when the windows are closed you cannot hear the busy restaraunt at all, which was excellent. the public areas are lovely and have a great atmosphere; elegant would be the word for it; marble, white leather couches etc. free internet until 10pm at night in the lobby was very handy. The breakfast room is lovely, look at the photos. it used to be an old bakery. the breakfast buffet was very good aswell. The staff were very helpful and professional and are at the reception desk 24 hours. There was no problem with us turning up earlier than you are meant to be able to check in, even though it must have been an inconvienience. Also we left the hotel at 5.30am, and the night receptionist even offered to make us a light breakfast to bring with us or some coffee etc, which was really good of him. A really good hotel. ps. a tip; on the walk between the hotel and the trainstation is a little restaurant called Alessandros. you would pass it by without noticing in the daytime, but at night it is full of italians (not tourists

We were very happy with our stay at this hotel. I must say, it could even be a 4 star hotel!! very clean and extremely good service! the map is a bit off course but there were road signs to the hotel when you reached the primeter of the hotel. I would definately go back there

A great special price in the summary when the University is in vacation. It is a quiet place with markets, supermarket nearby. With aircondition, we live through one of the hottest summer in the Europe. The location is 15-20 min from the Termini on foot, a little bit too far. However, I found that the bus route 71 takes you to the nearby Metro stations and old town is very convenient. The frequency is high. I never wait more 5 min.

Excellent value for money. Hotel is situated not far from the main railway station but in a residential area. We felt very safe coming home late at night although walking home from the station is not recommended instead we took the number 71 bus from the towncentre of Rome which stops outside the hotel.
Gray Susan review
The map provided is not very accurate, we walked from the train station and got lost a number of times, in hindsight we should have taken a taxi. In reality the distance is further than quoted and the map not in enough detail if you don't know the way. We were there on a very hot weekend and despite constantly running the airconditioning non-stop, the in room system could not cope -we had very hot nights! The building site across the road meant we couldn't open the window as they started very early! The bathroom (shower, toilet and bidet) was very basic but functional. The shower took some time to get sorted and the shelf over the sink sloped so everything fell off regularly. However, the staff were patient with our children and tolerated their excited behaviour, plus when we lost our 12yo son in Rome, the staff helped translate for the police who returned him to our hotel.

Nice Middle-Class Hotel in the University District. Many Bars and Restaurants close by. Reconstruction of large public square in front of the hotel should be finished by fall  and upgrade the location. The Hotel is a good place for people who like Rome a little bit off the touristic track. Even though most sights and the Termini station can be reached in 10-25 min walk.
